  • Guesthouses are establishments located in general purpose high-rise buildings. Their major clientele are budget tourists or local people. All licensed guesthouses should display a logo at a prominent place inside the premises.
  • Holiday flats are establishments located in village type houses in the New Territories and outlying islands. All licensed holiday flats should display a logo at a prominent place inside the premises.
  • Holiday camps are establishments located in camp sites which provide sports/recreational facilities and sleeping accommodation. They are usually run by voluntary agencies or government departments.

Difference between a local people guesthouse and a tourist guesthouse

From the licensing point of view, both types of guesthouses are required to attain the same standard of structural safety, fire safety, health and hygiene. The difference is primarily the target clientele of each establishment. You should confirm with the particular establishment whether it is suitable for you.

Other information of the accommodations
